On the road, in Wallace ID
We're off and running like a herd of turtles. First day from Seattle to Wallace ID. Somewhat uneventful except for the road construction from Cle Elum to near E-burg. Avoid I-90 if you can, in both directions.
Weather is better in Seattle. It's cold an raining over here in silver country. Ain't spit open here on Mondays. They roll up the sidewalks at 8 PM. At least we found the 1313 Club in "downtown" Wallace. Decent food and a definite western/mountain/dead animals on the walls decor. Just about every critter you can find around here, except hawks and eagle. Even had a wild hog head, and the traditional jackalope.
A little excitement on the road. After coming over the 4th of July Pass there was a 25-30 foot NICE trailer mating with the New Jersey barrier in the center of I-90. Trailer on top, doing a balancing act between the east and west bound lanes. It appeared to happen just a few mintues before we got there. Pieces of trailer tongue in the east-bound lanes that we had to avoid.
Someone had flares out. A Forrest Service ranger truck had flipped a U through the barrier in front of us and since his red and blues were flashing we figured it was slow-down time. We were well down the pass before any state patrol or sheriff vehicle went past.
One more day of mountains and we hit the plains. Not really looking forward to 3 days of flatlanding it. Just want to avoid tornado alley across the Dakotas and Iowa/Minnesota.
We aint the Mighty Columbia but we also be rolling on.
Ciao.
